Booster Meeting 12/2/25

Roster - Team is still accepting new skiers.  Looking to close the sign-ups soon.  We currently have approx. 24-25 skiers.  Dan requested remaining information from coaches so boosters can reach out to families.  Google form will be sent to skiers by coach Charlie.  We are missing information from approximately 10 skiers.

Treasurer report - As of today, $13,760.25 in bank. In Venmo - $1,405.  At least $540 still owed to Booster Club. Deposit has been made to Rainbow Resort.  Cub Bagging $1,241 earned.  We exceeded our budget by $241.  Trip costs, still to be determined.  Still have $191 fundraising gap per skier.  Still waiting on Raffle to come in.  

Coach stipend - not needed this year.  Ski pass for Kevin requested instead and possibly for Ezra.  Boosters approved request.

Uniforms - We do not need new uniforms but we are in the cycle for them.  We might wait until next year and consider a new design.  When we do purchase uniforms, the school will cover Varsity uniforms, boosters cover the rest.

Discussion on team needs now that we know the size of our team.

Warm-Ups - Parent asked about warm-ups.  

2nd apparel order - With so many new skiers joining the team late, we will look at putting out a new order for apparel.  Coaches will check in with the skiers to gauge interest.

We currently have CP hats and gators that can be used. (raffle prizes?)

Equipment - Looks good.  Still need to hand out classic skis.  Many returning skiers have their own skis and boots.  

Raffle drawing - 14 skiers have raffle tickets.  Still looking to hand out tickets.  Drawing will take place in 2 weeks.

Ski trips - Rainbow - 2.5 weeks away from trip on 12/20.  We have capacity for 34 people on the trip if needed.  Coaches requesting 3 cabins.  We can request cots if needed.  Cost of Rainbow is $2,139.  Karen reach out to Tammie Kyes for food list. Send out a Sign Up Genius for food donations for ski trip on 12/8.  

Varsity Ski Trip - Dan will connect with Joe Kyes to figure out details of this trip to make reservations.

Board VP Vacancy - VP helps stand in when President is unavailable.  Holds voting power and possibly takes over presidency when needed.

Parent Night Information

Thank you to everyone who was able to come out tonight for the Parents Night Informational Meeting

Key Highlights: 

  • There are two registrations that are required to be filled out, the high school and the booster club.
  • There are a couple places to get the latest information
    • Remind app is the go to for the most current news
    • Champlin Park High School Nordic Ski Facebook page

    • CPHS Nordic Booster Club blogspot
  • We need volunteers! We need a Vice President and there are multiple opportunities to help the team throughout the season.
  • Fundraising: We can't do what we do without fundraising. If you have not done so yet, please pick up the raffle tickets as soon as you can. Cub bagging is also on this year the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
  • Make sure you get a physical if you are due for one and have your skis checked for proper fit before the ski shops get too busy.

CPHS Nordic Booster Meetin 10/19 via Zoom

    - If we continue managing the budget as we are, we will run out of money in 2-3 years.  
    - Goal:  Maintain a $10,000 balance from year to year.
    - Fees fluctuate according to number of skiers on team.  Steph has a spreadsheet that shows
      the impact.
    - $60 per skier / $120 Family Max
    - First year skiers pay $35 for ski rental (classic and Skate). All other Skiers pay $35 per set of
      skis.

Budget Review:

Starting point for 24-25: $15,719.40

Ending point for 24-25: $14, 047.23

We ended the year down approximately $1,000 but still ended with a healthy balance.

Ski Rental and Booster Fee make up the majority of the difference.

January Varsity ski trip was approx. $1,300 more than the estimated cost. Booster club covered a portion of the cost for the ski trip. Banquet and t-shirts were lower due to lower attendance. Worth was also more expensive (previously $50 currently $70).

Motion: Payment for assistant coaches (Ethan Ibarra & Ezra Severin) totaling $1,500 was voted on.  

Motion: PASSED

Payment arrangements will be made through CPHS Athletic Office (Marcy Burnevik). Steph will complete this task.

Marathon Fundraiser: Hibbs is moving forward with plans for the Marathon for 2025.

Request for volunteer to reach out to sports teams that have pull tabs to fill out request for donation form. Dan Schreiner volunteered. We can use these donations for new long sleds and a leatherman multi use tool.

Appropriate adjustments were made to the budget with all booster members in agreement to the changes.

Motion:  Approve the Budget

Boosters decided that we are comfortable carrying over $10,000 balance this year into 25-26 ski season. (Joe Kyes recommendation)


25-26 Booster Club Board:

Add position of volunteer coordinator. Tamie Kyes has notes to help support 2 people in this role.

  • Banquet

    • Date:  2/24/25 (Monday after Birkie) - Board approved

    • Location:  Willy McCoys  

      • fits 100, 

      • Menu Options:  Burger or Chicken Sandwich or build your own tacos, fajita bar and bowl

      • Price 18 - 22 depending on food choice

      • Boosters decided to go with tacos for $22 per person

      • Total will be approximately $1,650.  Boosters will subsidize a portion of this cost.  Stephanie will do a cost estimate.

      • Drinks - Water, Lemonade or Sodas?  Joe Kyes will verify options.

    • Sign Up Genius - Tamie

    • Save the date for Banquet.  Tamie - Facebook, Charlie - Remind, Karen - E-email

  • Vote in Karen Ibarra as secretary - Dan S. nominated Karen, Steve H. seconded, board approved.

  • Next Booster meeting:  3/18/25 @ Willy McCoys End of year meeting - 7:00 p.m.

    • Do we want to include an official member at large position?

    • Do we want to add a volunteer coordinator to the board or leave it as a non-board position?

    • We will be voting for a new Booster Club president and as such we will be looking for an additional officer for the board.
